double jump.tokyo has announced the launch of SG Verse, a specialized Layer 2 blockchain built on Oasys platform in collaboration with AltLayer.

This new blockchain will support the upcoming game ‘KAI SANGOKUSHI TAISEN: Battle of Three Kingdoms,’ a blockchain adaptation of SEGA’s Sangokushi Taisen series.

The game, set to be released in winter 2024, will leverage blockchain technology to enhance gameplay and introduce new economic elements, including the use of the SG Coin for in-game transactions.

What is Sangokushi Taisen?

Sangokushi Taisen is a strategy-based arcade game developed by SEGA, set during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history.

Players use physical cards representing generals and units to engage in strategic battles on a digital battlefield. The game has been popular in Japan for its unique blend of real-time strategy and card-based mechanics, allowing players to collect and trade physical cards that are scanned into the game.

The upcoming blockchain version, KAI SANGOKUSHI TAISEN: Battle of Three Kingdoms, will incorporate these elements into a digital format, using NFTs to represent in-game characters and items, providing players with digital ownership and the ability to trade assets on the blockchain.

In addition, double jump.tokyo will introduce the SG Coin ($SGC) token which will be used for in-game purchases and transactions and potentially for other applications within the SG Verse.
